TV Show you’d be on
This is an easy one- Survivor. My first screen name was survivorgirl409 after I watched the 1st season of Survivor and my desire to be on the show has never ceased. I was disappointed last season when there was a veterinarian castaway because I had always hoped that I would be the first veterinarian on the show. Now my next goal is to be the first FEMALE veterinarian on the show.

Favorite thing about veterinary medicine
No day is the same and there is always something new to learn. I have always wanted to do something that helps animals and have also always enjoyed communicating with people. Veterinary medicine is the perfect combination of both!

Hobbies
I like working out, binging Netflix, exploring random stores even if I’m not buying anything, spending time with family especially my mom, cuddling and napping with my cat 😁.
Favorite thing about veterinary medicine
The patient/client and staff relationships we form. We get to help these families grow, recover and/or be there during the difficult decisions. Although we experience so much joy when being a part of an animal’s life, I love that we have the opportunity to ease any pain, discomfort or confusion for both the pet and pet parent to further promote their care and quality of life. Caring for an animal is stressful especially when they are sick but we get the privilege of becoming a support system, guidance center and shoulder to lean on through such hardships.
What attracted you to Love City Vet?
I worked with Dr. Lenahen when she did relief work in the past and it has always been an enjoyable experience in every aspect. With that being said I knew a practice run and owned by her would be an amazing place. I have always wanted to be part of a practice within this field that prioritizes the wellbeing of our hospital as a whole to truly promote the welfare of our patients and the comfort/ease for our clients and team.
What Marvel Character Would You Be?
Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy because of all her complexities. She exhibits immense strength mentally, emotionally and physically. She also makes the female image more empowering and her emotional vulnerabilities (whether it be sadness or love) don’t diminish her as a character, they actually make her more powerful.

I’m also such a sucker for dogs 🙂 I love them in any form, size, or personality they might have.
What song would be featured on your personal soundtrack?
“About Damn Time” by Lizzo. I really like confident people, especially those who love their bodies whatever size they may be. I applaud Lizzo for that and her songs just resonate with that kind of persona as well.

Hobbies
During my free time, you can find me training for a race (running), rescuing animals, baking, or snuggling with my cat, Mr. Moo!
Favorite thing about veterinary medicine
The most rewarding aspect is healing animals and seeing the impact it has on their human parents as well. Pet parents are such an important advocate for their fur babies –they know their babies best! I truly love connecting with pet parents and working together to figure out how to best support their furry loved ones.
What attracted you to Love City Vet?
Love City Vet exemplifies all the core values of veterinary medicine that is equitable and accessible. I am incredibly grateful to work in a female-owned and run hospital that encourages constant learning and a growth mindset.

Hobbies
I enjoy working on creative projects (in most mediums), hanging out with my dog, nieces, family/friends, watching movies, hiking, yoga, reading, volunteering with Philly Goat Project + animal rescues, and discovering new coffee shops.
Favorite thing about veterinary medicine
I love how everyday is not like the last in the veterinary world. I mainly enjoy helping animals whether it’s helping them feel better, calming their nerves, advocating, problem solving each case, educating their owners, venipuncture for diagnostics, etc. It’s all very rewarding.
What attracted you to Love City Vet?
I’ve worked with Dr. Lenahen before so I already knew how dedicated and incredible of a doctor she is. When I found out she opened her own hospital I was in awe and inspired by her determination to open up a woman owned clinic as well as giving back to the community. The Love City Vet Team was all so reliable and compassionate when helping my own pet with his health scare so I knew it was a group I could see myself in.
Place I’d most like to visit
I would love to visit New Zealand to hike the land and see The Hobbit homes!

Hobbies
I love hiking and camping with my husband and our dog, traveling in general, cooking, anything plant related, and SCUBA diving.
Education and Veterinary Experience
BA in Biology from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA.
DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts with clinical year at Louisiana State University.
For the first few years of my career, I practiced in northern NY as a mixed animal veterinarian. For the six years prior to joining LCV, I practiced as a small animal veterinarian just outside of Philly.
Favorite thing about veterinary medicine
I love surgery and with that dentistry. Mainly it’s the fact that no surgery is the same no matter how many times you do it. It keeps me on my toes. And I have seen things like a dental or a mass removal significantly change the quality of life of an animal overnight (and with that – their owner’s life as well).
A close second is behavior. The brain can be a daunting puzzle and each animal is very much an individual. It can be difficult to figure out what works for each individual case, but when we have a breakthrough (no matter how small) it can feel like such a huge victory.
What attracted you to Love City Vet?
The culture. I previously worked with Dr. Lenahen prior to her opening LCV and saw firsthand the positive and caring energy she puts out in the world. That was then cemented when I visited LCV in person and met everyone here and saw how she cultivates a positive and caring environment for her patients, her clients, and her staff. It feels different as soon as you walk through the door.
What Character Would You Be From a TV Show?
Hands down it would have to be Olivia Benson from Law-and-Order SVU. She is an intelligent, tough as nails, boss babe with a heart of gold.
If you weren’t a veterinarian you’d be a…
A professional SCUBA instructor in a tropical place.
I love the water deeply and have been diving since high school where I got my certification on a whim. I continued through college and even did dive research on artificial reefs, sea urchins and sea turtles in vet school. Every time I go diving it feels new and exciting. The vastness and the mystery of the sea keep calling me back.

Favorite thing about veterinary medicine
Educating clients on the best way to care for their fur babies at home.
While I love seeing all of our patients at the practice, at-home care is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. With so much information available on the internet and by word of mouth, it can be difficult for clients to sift through it all and find the correct bits of information. Being able to provide this to each and every client is very rewarding!
What attracted you to Love City Vet?
Aside from my previous experience working with Dr. Lenahen, Love City Vet’s focus on staff engagement and community outreach is what drew me in. As rewarding as veterinary medicine can be, it can also be draining. A company that puts time and appreciation into its employees is in turn putting time and effort into its clients and patients to ensure an exceptional experience all around. Understanding and being able to empathize with the surrounding community is also key to establishing a positive environment. Empathy is what makes us human and even though we are here to care for pets, it starts with each pet parent.
Star Wars character you would be
Ahsoka Tano: she’s loyal, empathetic, kind-hearted, stubborn, and holds her ground, but will always protect those in need and stand for what is right.
Favorite TV show(s)
The Office and Schitt’s Creek: a good portion of my day-to-day conversations consist of quotes/references from one if not both of these shows.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT VETERINARY MEDICINE
I am very much a hands-on learner and always looking to further my experience within the veterinary field. No matter how many years of experience you have, you can always find something new to learn about.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO LOVE CITY VET?
I am very honored to be a part of the Love City Vet team and have the incredible opportunity to work with Dr. Lenahen – a beautifully intelligent doctor and owner. The core values (LOVE) and Dr. Lenahen’s vision for Love City Vet really resonated with me.
DOG BREED THAT BEST RESEMBLES YOUR PERSONALITY
German Shepherd. I am very protective and loyal to those who I am familiar with, I lead with confidence and courage, and I am flexible but can also be very stubborn.

The sense of community culture within the workplace! Love City Vet’s dedication to making the workplace comfortable and suitable for employees was really important to me when I was looking for a new place to build a career and not just go to for an everyday job.
WHAT WOULD YOUR SUPERPOWER BE?
Enhanced intelligence. I feel like education is power and the more we can educate, the more people better understand the world and its needs.

WHAT GETS YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT LOVE CITY VET?
I’m thrilled to help care for all the adorable pets that come to the clinic, but what excites me most is being on the Love City Vet team. Everyone is so nice and kind to work with. They are so down to earth and they define what teamwork really is. I’m just so blessed and honored to be part of it.
